Cost: The suggested donation to cover the costs of paper and other operating expenses is $15 for your Federal return and $15 for your State.
Registration: The tax workshop runs on a first-come, first-serve basis on Saturdays from February to mid-April. Call our front desk at 734.973.6779, and we will explain what materials you will need to bring with you. You will be working at a computer with one of our knowledgeable tax volunteers.
Please bring the following to e-file your taxes:
Federal Taxes
*Copy of last year’s taxes
*Social Security numbers and birthdays for self, spouse and all minor children
*Income verification
~W-2 forms from all jobs worked in 2011
~All 1099 forms showing other income from 2011
*Any mail you received that said “tax document”
*Social Security Disability or SSI income statements
*Child care expenses (including summer camps), including provider’s name, address and federal ID number
*Mortgage company statements
*Adoption expenses
*Alimony paid or received
*Any notices received from IRS or Michigan Dept. of Treasury
*Property tax bills
*College tuition and student loan statement
*If you have a refund and want it deposited please bring a check with account and routing number
Michigan State Taxes
*Property tax/rent amount paid in 2011
*If renting, bring name of landlord name and address
*If claiming home heating credit -- Get the total cost for heat from Nov. 2009 until December, 2010 from past bills or DTE energy
